One of the major reasons for poor implantation is the inability of the embryo to hatch out of the Zona Pellucida which is the glycoprotein shell of the embryo. Assisted Hatching is a process whereby a low energy laser beam is used to create a thinning in part of the Zona Pellucida. Assisted Hatching is to allow the embryo to hatch more easily from its 'shell' and to enable embryos to implant in the lining of the uterus and enhance the pregnancy rate.
